Family time

We encourage play time for brothers and sisters, and whilst we do not provide a babysitting service, we welcome opportunities for brothers and sisters to participate in activities we have planned.

Trips out

We absolutely love getting out and about for adventures! Whether we provide support on family outings, or take your child out to explore the world so that you can relax at home or catch up with tasks or even take the time out for some much needed self-care, our belief is that your child should experience all the world has to offer, regardless of time here on earth!

Mentoring sessions

We provide mentoring sessions to children and young people who need support to work towards their goals and aspirations who may struggle with the educational environment, or those who are waiting for an education placement. Our mentoring sessions are adapted to suit the needs of the individual, and we use a range of strategies to create positive outcomes.

Our staff have been highly trained, and during the initial meeting, our management team will match a mentor to the individual who’s skill set will best suit their needs, to ensure the best possible experience.

Functional Skills

With functional skills we can incorporate basic reading, writing and Maths into everyday activities to build on skills while still being within a relaxed environment without the pressure of formal education.

Life Skills

If a child/ young person needs support in life skills we base activities around them, for example- Budgeting, Shopping, Cooking, building on self confidence, managing emotions and learning new ways of overcoming challenging emotions. We use positive encouragement and praise to build on confidence and self worth, and the resilience to overcome barriers.

Future Planning

We support individuals to think about their future goals, such as what further education opportunities are available to them, or if appropriate what career path interests them, and we use this to build a picture of what our sessions can include that will support the individual to work towards this. Our staff members can support individuals to gather information, look for suitable opportunities and develop skills to support with future opportunities.

Sensory Play

We can support with sensory sessions to encourage exploring different textures, smells, sounds to encourage the individual to try new experiences. Sensory play can help us encourage creativity and work on resilience to new textures/smells and sounds etc.

Independence

We promote independence as much as the individual is able during our mentoring sessions, lots of positive encouragement and praise are used to open up opportunities and the confidence to try new things. Independence can be scary, especially for individuals with additional learning needs, which is why our staff team are trained to prompt, support and encourage independence.

Physical Activities

Outdoor activities are a great way of building strength and endurance. Which can have a naturally calming effect, a way to burn off some energy. This can also be great to learn how to channel any negative thoughts and feelings/emotions and use this for a positive experience. We make use of the local facilities such as leisure centres, parks and local skate parks/outdoor gym spaces for sessions for individuals who enjoy this activity.

Confidence

We firmly believe that confidence is the key to success. We support children/young people to be confident in everything that they do, which is why our staff members always encourage, promote and most of all celebrate every success, every attempt, every thought about trying something new. We work with individuals to try things they have never tried before to challenge themselves, transitioning to a new setting can be difficult, but confidence building is a way to make this process slightly easier.

Communication

Communication is unique to each and every individual and finding ways to adapt this to an individuals needs is something our staff are trained to do. Our staff use the first initial visit to gauge the communication method that works best for the individual and builds on this. Our staff have experience using AAC devices, communication cards, Makaton, eye gaze devices and more! Our staff are also experienced in assessing how best to get the most for individuals, and optimising communication is incredibly important.
